Lightning NAs Starts Off Great Races

With Rio sailing races more or less concluded, it might be time to take a look at the different championships that is going on in different countries. Most sailing and yachting sporting activities take place during the summer and this is the peak season for all kinds of competitive sailing events.

In New York the Samson Lightning North American championship has ensued for 2016. It was kicked off on 18th August 2016. The championship started off with a day that was windy as the crews waited for the wind to pick up as the previous days had been light, airy days not enough for sailing to take place.

On 18th all the crews were able to find breeze at 10 knots which blew in from the Northwest. The course became choppy as a result on the first day of the race. As three races were endued with competitive fleets, maintaining the lanes has become the key to the championship race that is on gong at Rochester.

The first day saw Ched Proctor with his son win from Plainsailing. There was also a local team formed by Mark Serti and his wife Cory along with Christine Moloney who won the second race. There were other qualifying winners like Tito and his daughter from Chile who won the third race of the day.

What stood out among the different teams and how they competed was the consistency shown by Todd Wake and his wife Kristine along with Neal Fowler from Sheboygan. They have a leading position with 13.5 points in total. They tied in second position with Team Proctor. As the qualifying rounds continue in this championship, most eager fans are waiting to see further updates and hope that the weather will remain fine and in favor of the participants.
